Zeina Italian Spices

Zeina Italian Spices are a dried herb blend rather than a ground spice: flecks of oregano, basil, thyme and rosemary, olive-green and grey-green, coarse enough to see each leaf. The scent that rises from the pouch is resinous and grassy, sweetly herbal, with no chilli whatsoever. Herbs like this need fat or liquid to open up, so scatter them into simmering tomato sauce, over pizza before it goes into the oven, or into olive oil with garlic as a dip for bread. They season pasta, lasagne, roast chicken and potatoes, grilled vegetables, minced-meat sauces and salad dressings. Rub the leaves between your palms as you add them to release more aroma. Comes in a resealable pouch. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

البهارات الإيطالية من زينة خلطة أعشاب مجففة لا بهار مطحون: قطع من الأوريجانو والريحان والزعتر وإكليل الجبل بلون زيتوني ورمادي مخضّر، وبجرش خشن يُظهر كل ورقة. الرائحة الصاعدة من الكيس راتنجية عُشبية بحلاوة نباتية، وبلا أي حِرافة. أعشاب كهذه تحتاج دهناً أو سائلاً لتتفتّح، لذا تُنثر في صلصة الطماطم على النار، أو على البيتزا قبل دخولها الفرن، أو في زيت الزيتون مع الثوم كغموس للخبز. تُتبّل بها المكرونة واللازانيا والدجاج والبطاطس في الفرن والخضار المشوية وصلصات اللحم المفروم وصوصات السلطة. افرك الأوراق بين كفّيك أثناء إضافتها ليخرج عطرها أكثر. تأتي في كيس قابل لإعادة الإغلاق. يُحفظ في مكان بارد وجاف بعيداً عن أشعة الشمس المباشرة.
