Zeina Hibiscus Seeds 110 g

Despite the name, what fills this pouch is the dried flower: Zeina Hibiscus Seeds are whole karkade calyces, deep burgundy and papery, snapping between the fingers while dry. Steeped in just-boiled water for five to ten minutes they give up a crimson infusion with a sharp cranberry tartness that is usually rounded off with sugar or honey. Cooled over ice with a slice of lemon, the same brew becomes the dark red drink poured at iftar and at summer gatherings. It carries no caffeine, so it suits late evenings. The calyces also colour and scent syrups, jellies and poached fruit. Packed in a resealable pouch that keeps the flowers whole and dry. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

خلافاً للاسم، ما يملأ هذا الكيس هو الزهرة المجففة: الكركديه من زينة كؤوس زهرة كاملة، عنّابية غامقة رقيقة كالورق تتكسّر بين الأصابع وهي جافة. تُنقع في ماء مغلي من خمس إلى عشر دقائق فتمنح منقوعاً قرمزي اللون بحموضة حادة تشبه الكرَز البري، وتُحلّى عادة بالسكر أو العسل. وإذا بُرّدت على الثلج مع شريحة ليمون صار المشروب ذاته ذلك الأحمر الغامق الذي يُصبّ على مائدة الإفطار واللقاءات الصيفية. وهو خالٍ من الكافيين فيناسب أوقات المساء المتأخرة. وتصلح الكؤوس كذلك لتلوين وتعطير الشراب والمربى والفواكه المطبوخة. يأتي في كيس قابل لإعادة الإغلاق يحفظ الزهور كاملة وجافة. يُحفظ في مكان بارد وجاف بعيداً عن أشعة الشمس المباشرة.
