What it does bring is colour, a brilliant deep red that tints anything it touches, which is why it is used as much for appearance as for taste. Dust it over hummus, labneh and grilled halloumi, work it into marinades and dry rubs for chicken and fish, stir it into tomato sauces, potato dishes and rice, or sprinkle it on eggs and roasted vegetables. Add it away from strong heat, as high temperatures dull the colour and turn it bitter. Supplied in a resealable pouch.
